Purely historically angels seem to be derived and translated from the "those who came from the sky", who lived together with humans about 9000 years ago in Mesopotamia, in which Babylon existed later on, which the bible tells stories around. One story goes like this: One day one of those who came from teh sky got to someone on a mountain and told him to turn his wooden house into a ship to take animals and plants on board - a flood would come. Now the bible has a story, wherein an angel flew down to Noah and told him, god is mad and will flood the world - he should build a giant ship alone and take two of every animal on earth on board.
